If the stipulation wasnt given to Travis either prior to the trip or on-site prior to entering Zama and everyone let him click away care-free, then I dont see how anyone can have a beef with what he does with photos that he took and edited himself using his own gear. Now had they told him, "we will let you take photos for your own personal enjoyment, but you cannot publish them nor use them for any commercial purposes".....Then I can see you guys' point, and I certainly agree. Why wasn't this brought up years ago? This is nothing unusual, the two most famous castles in Germany explicitly state at the entryway that photos are not permitted inside, and the staff will even tell you it is because they prefer to charge professional photogs to photograph the interior rooms for publication/commercial purposes only. Will they confiscate your digi-cam? no. But they don't let you go walking around with $2-3-4 grand in camera, lenses, and gear snapping off shots either. Everyone knows the deal upon entry. This new "disclaimer" however comes off heavily on the "catty" side considering the time elapsed and that there isn't a single shot that I have seen so far that even warrants printing out, much less the beaut that Travis produced that gave some of us a very appreciated piece of Nissan wall art to add to the collections. Why not just handle this "issue" off-line and request Travis to post an apology/explanation that he was no longer selling the posters for the very reasons you state if he in fact is in the wrong for doing so? Why is this an issue NOW?
"What a curiosity our new political correctness has made of our public spaces. Let your sex tape loose on the Internet and be rewarded with your own TV show; photograph a crucifix in a jar of urine and our museums will vie to exhibit it; occupy someone else’s property and you will be hailed by the president for your keen social conscience. But call people who blow up, behead and mutilate “savage” — and polite society will find you offensive." --Jared Silverman "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." --Winston Churchill "When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." --Benjamin Franklin "The last official act of any government is to loot the treasury." --George Washington END THE FED ....learn why, in 42 minutes Full Pardon for PFC Bradley Manning |
